First Swim

Yesterday Jana invited us over to swim in her pool.  The sun was nice and warm, but not warm enough for me to get in the pool.  I watched the kids from the deck and the hot tub.  Since I wouldn’t get in an help them with their swimming skills Max and Tru used their kick boards to get around and Oli wore his life jacket.  I’m real proud of Oli because he swam across the hot tub.  This is a huge step for him because last year he screamed every time I took him in the water.  One time he screamed to hard he fell asleep in my arms.  Like I said, big step here.  We had a great time and are really happy we live in sunny California.

These are pictures from last weekend when it was nice and windy until we got our kite out. Then it stopped dead. Oh well, we got one good flight from it and the kids had a great time running around trying to catch it while it fell. Thanks Brandon and Maria for the fun kite!

My friend Amy N. just sent me this link about Bella’s Lullaby being in the movie. Apparently Robert Pattinson (Edward) is a musician and he’s one of the many people composing a song for the movie. Wild.

Scott built this nifty little blog for me so thanks a bunch hon. I feel like I reached deep into my feminine side with this one. The other theme I had picked out had a skull and cross-bones on it. I think I finally picked this one because I thought people would be more comfortable looking at it. Hope that’s true. So this should be my home for a good long time. Scott got us our own domain name and everything. He’s really trying to turn me into a geek. What with all the comic book movies and the kids being obsessed with Star Wars I’m wandering in that direction already. Pretty much got all the same features plus new ones. For instance you can click on Twilight in the Categories and it will pull up all the Twilight posts I’ve made. Pretty cool. The other bit of news is that you don’t have to register to make a comment. Well, welcome. We’re glad you’re here.

btw From what I can tell my bipolar episode is almost over. Yippee. It hasn’t been fun but it sure feels good to be on this side of it.

ps We’ve lost the ability to get emailed when new comments are made on your favorite posts, but the option is there to be notified of new comments by RSS feed. If you look for small green type that says RSS 2.0 feed in the comments window it will set you up if you have a feed reader already. See my post below if you need help setting that up. Happy commenting!

On the Set of Twilight

Scott found this one for me (best husband ever). On the set of Twilight. I’m not sure about the Edward hunting and running on the treetops but I guess it will make things interesting. What’s your take on that?

Possessed

Well we’re having one of those weeks.  I’m having a minor mixed state episode of bipolar which in this case means racing depressed thoughts.  I also feel extremely agitated and restless but with a strong desire not to move a muscle.  Hence the name mixed state.  Luckily I’m on medication so this is very minor but it still doesn’t feel very good.  So on top of that, and Scott says it’s because I’m not feeling well, the kids are on another planet.  We haven’t had accidents or spills in a month or so and we’ve had a spill every day and three accidents this week.  In fact, Max was standing on a chair and just dumped the contents of a pencil sharpener all over the place.  There have been screaming fits from all.  Everything that normally runs smooth is now bumpy.  Aaaarrrgh.  Luckily, I’ve learned that everything gets better with time.  Just ride it out is my motto.  And ride it out I will.  Anyone else feeling this way (not the bipolar stuff, just the normal stuff)?

ps I just tried to post this and “Blogger is currently unavailable.”  Really!!?

Twilight Clips

I was on Stephenie Meyer’s site today thanks to my RSS feed and saw that some new clips were posted on MTV.com. The fun part is a little clip of Jacob. If you look down at the bottom of the player you’ll see his face. They don’t show him acting at all just little clips of him in costume. It was really good to see him because most of the photos I’ve seen of him have been when he’s younger (imdb).

Spring Break

We’ve had a really fun, really low key Spring Break.  We hung out at the Schlegel’s house, the park, our house and yesterday we went to the beach with the Sharps and Geddes.  I knew the way so Lisa and Julianne followed me.  So of course I missed my exit on to 85.  Thankfully there’s a second way to get on so it wasn’t too embarrassing.  When we got to the beach I was about to put my jeans on that I brought.  But I stuck it out and not too long afterwards I’d taken my top off.  Don’t worry, I had a bathing suit on underneath.  The kids had a great time throwing a football in to the waves and letting them carry it back.  There wasn’t too much sand play but there was enough to bring some home with us.  I of course got fried.  Didn’t put any sunscreen on my legs and paid the price.  And I’ve got some nice raccoon eyes from my sunglasses.  Sorry I don’t have a picture of that for you.  All in all we’ve had a great week.  Especially since the weather has been fabulous.

Brooke White

Holy crow!:)  You’ll never believe the connection I found Tuesday night.  So I have Brooke White’s album.  About a year ago I was searching for modest tees and came upon a brand new site (don’t remember what it was called but it’s since gone out of business) and on the blog was a link to Brooke’s album Songs From the Attic. (I can’t find the link so I settled for Amazon – I did not pay more than $10 for my copy).  I was in an impulsive mood and bought it.  I’ve listened to it a couple of times since but that’s saying a lot from me.  I just don’t connect to music like other people do.  Anyway, I kept seeing her on American Idol and hearing her name and thinking I knew her from somewhere.  Finally Tuesday night I went into my iTunes library and found the album.  I listened to one of the songs and knew for sure it was her.  The first and probably the last time this will ever happen.  The funny thing is she’s not even my favorite on the show.  I really like Carly Smithson.  But she just hasn’t been doing so well the last few weeks.  So just to recap, I’m not saying I made Brooke who she is or that I discovered her.  I totally stumbled upon her.  I just feel like I’m part of her home town now.  I don’t know her personally, but I feel like I actually have a tiny connection to someone on one of my favorite shows.  It’s so exciting.

Since I’m on the TV thread I am really happy that Ali won The Biggest Loser.  She is so tiny now.  Incredible.  It makes me happy when my favorite people win reality TV shows.

On Saturday we spent the day at the Schlegel’s house.  We had a lot of fun just hanging out in the nice weather.  Scott even got a nap in on a blanket in the front yard.  These photos are taken from my iPhone.  Best phone EVER!

Road Rage

OK, so I need to vent.  I don’t get road rage in the extreme sense.  No wanting to run into anyone’s car or even shout profanities (it doesn’t count when it’s in your head right).  But I do take issue with people who park in the fast lane.  If you look ahead of you and the road is empty and you look behind you and there’s a line… it’s time to get over.  I’m no Danica but if there’s an open road, I like to cover it as quickly as possible.  Please, please let me.

RSS Feed

So Scott just hooked me up with a RSS Feed Reader.  So it works like a mail client only for blogs. It searches the blogs you subscribe to during the day and lets you know when there has been a new post.  Instead of going to 10 blogs every morning to see if anyone has posted, you just open the reader and it will tell you.  I am loving it.  I totally know when all my friends have posted and I’m sorry to say, more importantly for my obsession, I know every time Stephenie Meyer’s site is updated. btw she’s posted some new movie stuff.  Must see.  I am using Vienna which is for Macs.  Scott says a popular one for PCs is FeedDemon.  You download it and install it then you go to your favorite blog and look for the RSS link that looks like the picture above.  Sometimes it’s in the address bar on the far right.  You click on the link and it automatically goes to your reader.  Then it will check it for you at intervals while you have it open.  Love it, love it, love it.

Twilight Book Club

**spoiler alert**I had a Twilight Book Club at my house and it was SO much fun.  We had some Edward lovers, some Jacob lovers, some lovers of both (that’s me).  We talked mostly about what we thought would happen in the fourth book.  There were some very different ideas and I loved hearing all of them.  The most interesting of the night was that Edward and Bella would end up like Romeo and Juliet, or one of them would have to die in order to save the other.  I can definitely see where that idea would come from, but I’m not sold on it.  I have a totally open mind though.  Whatever Stephenie throws at us, I’m ready.  I definitely believe something horrible is going to happen.  It has to to make it a good story.  I’m leaning along the lines of Edward turning Bella and then the Volturri taking Bella and trying to train her as one of them.  Or the Volturri attacking the Cullens and there being a fight to the death.  I don’t have any concrete ideas about Jacob except that I don’t believe Jacob and Bella will end up together.  But again, I say, open mind.  What do you think?  I’d love to hear your ideas.  Post a comment and speak your mind.  And don’t forget to check out the Cullen Quiz below if you haven’t already.

Scott’s Birthday

It’s time again for my wonderful husband’s birthday.  He’s not a big cake fan so he asked for candy instead.  I made him a circus peanuts cake then gave him a bag the kids decorated filled with candy.  I think it’s safe to say his favorite gift is his red lightsaber.  Happy birthday love of my existence!!!

Cullen Quiz

OK Twilight fans.  I’ve got a cool quiz for you.  It’s a little bit like a personality profile, but it ends up telling you which Cullen you are most similar too.  I’m Jasper which makes me very happy, but I would have been happy with any of them so that’s not really a big deal I guess.  At first I was upset because he’s a boy, but then I got over my gender issues and really thought about the type of person Jasper is.  Take the quiz and then post a comment with your results and if you want, how you feel about them.  It makes me all tingly inside to feel like I’m a member of the Cullen family.

btw I got the drawing of Jasper off of fanpop with no artist listed.
