Fate

I am not joking when I say that on Sunday on the way home from the airport Scott and I were talking about accidents.  I was telling him that the only accident I had ever been in was when I stopped too close to the guy in front of me and the guy behind me hit me into him.  Barely a buckling of paint on my car and nothing on the guy in front.  I don’t really consider that an accident.  So I told Scott I think my time is up.  I think I will probably get into an accident soon.  Can you believe this?

This morning I was driving down Mary to drive Oli to school and this guy pulled out right in front of me.  I mean right in front of me.  I didn’t even have time to hit the brakes before I hit him.  The van plowed right through him though.  Dented his car and ripped off his bumper.  He wasn’t hurt and neither were Oli and I so everything is going to be fine.  He was pretty freaked out especially when he saw Oli but I assured him he was all right.

So now it’s just all the claim work and getting the car fixed but how weird is it that I was just talking about it being my time?  Every once in a while I’ll have things like this happen where I feel afterwards like God was trying to prepare me for something hard.  It doesn’t happen very often though.  Or maybe I’m just not listening.  I’m just glad that the accident was so minor and nobody was hurt.

Oh, your poor van! Glad you guys are okay, though, and glad you’re feeling relatively calm about it, thanks to last weekend’s premonition.

Yikes! That’s a major bummer. Glad you guys were all right, though. And at least it wasn’t your fault. I had a little fender bender last year that was my fault (first time ever and no tickets on my record) and my insurance almost doubled!!! Glad you guys had fun in AZ!

That sucks! You know that the ration of bad drivers to good in Sunnyvale is relatively high. I can’t tell you how many close calls I had and then the 1 fender bender. I am glad everyone is okay.

    Dear Alisa,
We are so sorry to hear of your auto accident, but so relieved that you and Oli were both safe and unharmed. We have both experienced “premonitions” before, but even if you feel something is going to happen, there is not much you can do about it! We were happy to hear that you had a nice trip to Arizona and the pictures show that the boys had a fun time too. We enjoy keeping up with goings on in your lives, via the blog. We have been doing the usual entertaining of friends and family each weekend and giving them the experience of fishing and crabbing and playing in the ocean. It’s been a beautiful summer. We miss you all,
    Love,
    Dad & Cheryl

Oh yikes!!! I’m glad to hear that everyone was okay! How long will it take to get your car fixed?

  6. Mom Says:

okay…. I guess from now on when I’m talking to you and I ask “how are you, how are things?” and you say “okay” and we talk about stuff, I should also ask if there have been any near death experiences or other interesting things that happened that morning :>
I know you are not two anymore, but good thing I check your blog once in awhile. And good thing I saw it before Janet or Julianne said something to me like, “Alisa and Oli were so lucky not to be hurt in the accident” or something like that which sends a mom’s heart racing. (No matter how old her kids are)
