Lucky Charms

I don’t know about you but there are some things I buy that I buy just for me. Not to share with Scott even. Just for me. Pudding is one of those things and certain cereals are another. My kids have tons of cereals that they like so I buy a big selection and put it in our cereal cupboard for them to get at when it’s breakfast. The Lucky Charms on the other hand is stashed in the highest cupboard in our kitchen where supposedly only I know where to find it. Never happens that way though. I will go out to the kitchen to get a bowl and open the top cupboard and the Lucky Charms is gone. So I check the kids cupboard and sure enough, there it is. And not only is it in there, it’s half gone. Half gone!!!? How do they eat half a box of cereal in one morning? There are only three of them.
Well, I’m sorry to say the other morning I lost it and starting ranting to no one in particular about how I don’t like that many cereals and how I buy this cereal just for myself because everyone else likes all the different cereals and I don’t and how I put the cereal way up in the cupboard so everyone should know it was mine and how could they eat half a box of cereal in one sitting.
The all wise and knowing Scott finally said, “Alisa, they’re going to eat your cereal because they like it too. Maybe you should buy two boxes next time.” Oh my gosh! Why didn’t I think of that? Here I’ve been trying to hide the cereal from them when I could have just gotten them their own box. I mean who doesn’t like Lucky Charms, right? The only problem I see is when they finish their box in 2 days and come searching for mine. Man, I need to find a better hiding place.
Do you have something you buy only for yourself and guard with your life? Why do they always find our hiding spots?

Oh, I can relate to this. I usually have a stash of candy that is shared with NO ONE! I like Jr. Mints and Dots, just to name a few. Fortunately my kids haven’t found that stash yet. The cereal thing cracks me up!

So. . .while I’m out alone I occasionally buy a couple of candy bars at the store and eat them in the car so that no one knows or asks for some. I swear I feel a little bit criminal doing it. Or like I’m a 400 lb. woman who binges while no one looks. But you know what? Sometimes I just need a good dose of chocolate.

Just yesterday, Thomas asked, “What’s for breakfast?” We said, “cereal”. And he said, “there is nothing good in the pantry. I will only eat Lucky Charms”! Too funny!

You are cracking me up. It was like reading my dad’s mind from when I was a kid. It was Dr. Pepper that he was stashing. So funny. Of course we LOVED it too and would always find his stashes. He would yell at us that he buys all these other sodas for us, Pepsi, sprite, crush, etc. so leave his alone. And we would ALL rebuttle back in unison that we WANT DP and just DP. And eventhough we like the other sodas, we would rather drink just DP. He never got it. He would just tell us that Dr. Pepper was “the nectar of the Gods” and we hadn’t acheived that level of exaltation yet. LOL
Anyway…. for his birthday this year… I got him a case of DP. He STILL gets after us when we visit and we raid his stashes.
Side note: I don’t buy Lucky Charms, not because its a “sugar cereal” you know… candy with milk poured on top… but because my husband tells me I eat it wrong. That I cheat. So… is it a crime to pick out all the marshmallows and just have those with milk??? hah hah
