Oli Off the Diving Board

That’s right.  Oli actually jumped off of the diving board today.  Proclaimed it “wicked fun” and did it again and again.  And much to my delight swam halfway from the board to the side of the pool all by himself.  This is a big day for Oli.  He’s been in swim classes literally all summer.  Start to finish next week.  I am so proud of him and just about jumped up and down right there at the pool.  Good job Oli!!!!!

Rock Climbing

Max and Tru just finished a week at Planet Granite rock climbing. They loved it and can’t wait to do it again next year. We showed up the first day and Oli wanted to do it too even though he declined when I signed them up months ago. Unfortunately all the classes were full. It would have been so cute to see him climbing. The boys did great though. Made it all the way to the top and everything. I never caught Max climbing so I don’t have any wicked cool pics of him.  Tru is in the orange shirt.

IMG_2792We’ve got yet another first going on.  Max is on his first soccer team, the Hurricanes.  Because Max is 8 most of the kids on his team have been playing for a few years.  I was afraid this was going to be a disaster but it wasn’t.  In fact Max had a blast and I loved watching him play.  He got a hold of the ball a few times and passed it where it needed to be.  Max, being Max, is not as aggressive as some of his teammates but he is a great team player and had a smile on his face the whole game.  His coach even told him it was nice to hear laughter from the field.  Not something he’s used to.

Scott is the Assistant Coach so he’s been able to be with Max at practice and at clinics.  I could not be more happy with the IMG_2793outcome of todays game.   It’s just the beginning of a great season.

I love this second picture because that’s how Max looked the entire time.  He was smiling and laughing and there was a skip to his run.  I mean, the kid was having so much fun.  Everyone else was so serious and focused on winning and he was just enjoying the game.  Doing great and enjoying the game.  I couldn’t have asked for this to go better.  Yay soccer.  Yay Max!

Goooo Hurricanes!!

What a great surprise!

IMG_2727Scott’s coworkers all signed a card and gave Truman a huge bag of Bionicles and Legos.  Scott said he had something to bring home but I wasn’t expecting such a generous gift.  And they all signed the card!  What do you say to a kid that you don’t know who broke his arm?  They were all really cute and clever and sweet and it really made me feel like Scott was being taken care of at work if his coworkers would take the time to do this for Truman.

My favorites for the card was when Jamie said “Drink lots of milk!” and right next to her Bryan wrote, “Forget the milk.  Go straight for the ice cream.”  Truman lit up when I read that to him.  ”Yeah mom!!  Let’s have some ice cream!”

I cannot tell you how well the Bionicles are going over.  All four kids (Jessica our neighbor is with us Mon – Thr) are all in the boy’s room totally engulfed in them.  The other great thing about the gifts is that they were really, really well thought out.  The gift came with three balloons (two of which are already popped thanks to our textured ceiling) and there were three sets of Bionicles.  One for each boy!  Whoever picked everything out knew what they were doing.  One smart cookie!

IMG_2729Needless to say Truman is totally thrilled that for no other reason than he has a cast on he got some presents.  I’m thrilled because we’ve been spending A LOT of time indoors so that Truman doesn’t re-injure his arm (we met a girl at the pool yesterday who had pins in her elbow that she somehow bent so the Dr.s had to re-break her arm to get the pins out and then reset it again.  Not something I want to go through or have Truman go through.)  It’s always great to have a new activity that the kids are excited about.  Quietly playing with.  So all in all this was an incredible surprise.

Has your work ever surprised you like this?

Ed Hardy Perfume

Posted in New Stuff  by: Alisa
May 9th, 2009

ed_hardy_wI guess it would have been smart in my last post to mention the actual perfume that I went to buy.  So here’s more information than you could possibly want.  It’s Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier.  Ed Hardy is a clothing designer that I love.  He was the designer that the 17 year old dad was wearing on his first day back to school in 17 Again.  I admit the kid looked ridiculous but I love the tattoo inspired art of Ed Hardy.  Tatto art is some of my favorite.

And since it’s such a stretch to think of me wearing perfume I thought I’d put the list of fragrance notes:   apple, mango, strawberry, red grapefruit, freesia, watery muget, linden blossom, warm amber, musk, tonka bean, and vanilla puddin.

Ed Hardy is listed as a casual perfume though I plan on wearing it wherever the heck I want to.  I’ve had a tester of it for almost a week now and I am totally in love.

On a side note, if you go to Nordstroms they will fill a tester vial with any perfume you like so you can take it home and try it out.  I did not know this before a week ago though I’m sure you’ve all been going there for years.  I’m a little slow with the girly stuff.  I think I’m going to go back and find the most expensive perfume I can and try it out.

What’s your favorite perfume?

She’s so pretty!

*I wrote this post a month ago when we bought the Pilot and have been trying to get my video (like the one I did with the Mazda) processed from YouTube.  It’s not happening so here’s the post without the clever video, much to my chagrin.  Just know that my “My other car is a Horcrux” license plate is firmly affixed. Although, thanks to my mom I now want a “This car is a Portkey” one.  Christmas is coming up and a portkey has a lot less evil connotations than a horcrux.  I’d put it on Scott’s car but he’s not as devoted to Harry Potter as I am.  Silly man.

Well we did it.  We bought a new car.  That’s not entirely true.  Scott bought a new car.  After three friends telling me they loved the Honda Pilot I decided to go check one out.  We found a used one at the local Acura dealer and went Saturday morning to drive it.  I instantly fell in love.  The back seat isn’t really made for adults, but we do have three children that can fit back there no problem.  And the best thing about the car is that it has this little picture on the dash of the car and when you open a door a little door opens on the picture.  Do you know how many times I ran around opening and closing all the doors on the van trying to figure out which one had been left open.  Genius product.  I believe the Odyssey has it too.

So anyway I drive the car and am totally in love (it’s got more power than the van which is a total plus).  We decide to leave the Pilot and go home and think about it.  By the time we got home we were going to go

back Monday evening and buy the car if it was still there.  Scott had a Church meeting Saturday night so it prevented us from going back immediately.  That night Scott got back from his meeting really late and I assumed he just got caught hanging out talking to someone but lo a behold he had a key in his hand when he walked through the door.  After his meeting he raced over to the Acura dealer and bought the Pilot for me.  The best surprise ever!!

I L-O-V-E, love, love it.  It is so much fun to drive and the kids fit really nicely.  As you can see I fit 6 kids in without any problems.  Well, except the noise!  I will admit that I have been a little intimidated by it because it’s so stinking nice.  I’m terrified that someone is going to jump out and hit me again. I guess that’s only natural considering.

Well thanks Clisty, Summer and Julianne for suggesting the Pilot.  And thank you Scott for the awesome, super-fantastic surprise!

Totaled

The van is totaled.  I just talked to the insurance rep and they’re actually giving us a really fair price on the van.  Which shocked me.  I have had a totally painless experience with Farmers.  I’m really glad we have them for our insurance.  As odd as this is to say it’s actually been pleasant to work with them.

So anyways I’ve already started shopping for a replacement.  I thought the H2 was a very reasonable family car.  What do you think?

Btw, I’m joking.  I would feel ridiculous driving this around.   My only requirement is a third row seat whether it be a van or an suv.  What are your favorite family vehicles?

Dessert and shopping

Scott was nice enough to go to Safeway the other day and do all of the shopping.  I was unloading the groceries when I found this tasty little number.  I was shocked that Safeway would have something so pretty.  Turns out there’s a bakery in the same shopping center (Bernardo and El Camino) that he stopped by and picked this up.  It’s called Sugar Butter Flour and the treat was beyond delicious.  It was a flourless cake with some kind of mousse on top with raspberry sauce mixed in.  Just thinking of it makes me drool.  I wanted all of you to know about this place.  I will definitely be making visits there now that I know it exists.  Yum.

So I realize my movie making skills are not that great and the picture quality is terrible but I had so much fun making this. I am seriously in love with our new car. Well, Scott’s new car but he has the van this week so I get it. I was even able to drive it over 17 yesterday and oh man was it fun. I feel like I’m driving a sports car it’s so fast. Like every stop sign is a starting line and I have a race to finish. It’s solid when it turns too; really corners well. I seriously feel like I’m 20 when I’m driving it. Like I have a sleek, solid body and can do anything I want. Like super powers anything I want. That’s how cool it feels.

Scott built this nifty little blog for me so thanks a bunch hon. I feel like I reached deep into my feminine side with this one. The other theme I had picked out had a skull and cross-bones on it. I think I finally picked this one because I thought people would be more comfortable looking at it. Hope that’s true. So this should be my home for a good long time. Scott got us our own domain name and everything. He’s really trying to turn me into a geek. What with all the comic book movies and the kids being obsessed with Star Wars I’m wandering in that direction already. Pretty much got all the same features plus new ones. For instance you can click on Twilight in the Categories and it will pull up all the Twilight posts I’ve made. Pretty cool. The other bit of news is that you don’t have to register to make a comment. Well, welcome. We’re glad you’re here.

btw From what I can tell my bipolar episode is almost over. Yippee. It hasn’t been fun but it sure feels good to be on this side of it.

ps We’ve lost the ability to get emailed when new comments are made on your favorite posts, but the option is there to be notified of new comments by RSS feed. If you look for small green type that says RSS 2.0 feed in the comments window it will set you up if you have a feed reader already. See my post below if you need help setting that up. RSS Feed

April 16th, 2008

So Scott just hooked me up with a RSS Feed Reader.  So it works like a mail client only for blogs. It searches the blogs you subscribe to during the day and lets you know when there has been a new post.  Instead of going to 10 blogs every morning to see if anyone has posted, you just open the reader and it will tell you.  I am loving it.  I totally know when all my friends have posted and I’m sorry to say, more importantly for my obsession, I know every time Stephenie Meyer’s site is updated. btw she’s posted some new movie stuff.  Must see.  I am using Vienna which is for Macs.  Scott says a popular one for PCs is FeedDemon.  You download it and install it then you go to your favorite blog and look for the RSS link that looks like the picture above.  Sometimes it’s in the address bar on the far right.  You click on the link and it automatically goes to your reader.  Then it will check it for you at intervals while you have it open.  Love it, love it, love it.
